MOEBIUS + RENZIEHAUSEN

Ersatz. CD, vinyl (180g), download

Dieter Moebius is one of the most important protagonists of avant-garde electronic music in Germany. Alongside his bands Cluster and Harmonia he participated in numerous collaborations (e.g. with Brian Eno, Mani Neumeier/Guru Guru and Conny Plank). Karl Renziehausen, visual artist and constructor of sound sculptures, was a fringe member of the Forst/Weser Uplands creative community (home to Moebius, Rother, Roedelius et al). His profound understanding of computers motivated Moebius to enter into a collaboration with him. The music: surrealist, minimal / experimental electronics. "Adventures in sound, a world brought to life by the most remarkable characters and atmospheres." (Asmus Tietchens)

ROEDELIUS

Plays Piano (Live in London). CD, vinyl (180g), download

Whilst staying with Brian Eno in 1985, Roedelius composed a wealth of new material on his friend's two grand pianos and presented it to the public at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London. For Roedelius, this evening remains one of the highlights of his career. "People were kneeling down before me in gratitude and happiness", he recalls. Anyone who listens to these breathtakingly beautiful piano fantasies will understand why. – – – This music has never been released before!

ROEDELIUS

Wasser im Wind. CD, vinyl (180g), download

Of all the Roedelius solo releases, this is the one which most closely resembles the work of Cluster. "Wasser im Wind", originally released 1982, sees Roedelius use a wide variety of musical and sonic ingredients hitherto associated with Cluster, almost as if he sought to erect a monument to the group. The reissue comes with a slightly modified artwork.

SØLYST

Sølyst. CD, download, LP (+ download code).

Kreidler drummer Thomas Klein presents his first solo album. Like Kreidler SØLYST also unites analogue drums and electronically generated patterns. Klein is a musical hypnotist, taking aim at rhythmic ecstasy with minimal, yet highly effective means. SØLYST's darkly pulsating aural cosmos envelops the listener and holds him fast as a fantastic voyage commences. Afrobeat, minimal music, Krautrock, dub, cosmic – a genre to encompass these influences has yet to be invented, so Tribal Dub Krautrock is perhaps the most fitting description.

HANS-JOACHIM ROEDELIUS

Wie das Wispern des Windes / Like The Whispering Of The Wind. CD, vinyl (180g), download.

If we can agree on 1969 as the year of Cluster's inception, then Roedelius needed a good 17 years to discover the aural qualities and musical beauty of the grand piano for his own compositions. Rarely has the title of a Roedelius album so poetically and yet so accurately described its content. On "Like The Whispering Of The Wind" from 1986 Roedelius expands his Études towards amorphousness, then suddenly a disarmingly familiar melody appears, from a completely different source perhaps (Harmonia? Cluster?). Released on CD for the first time!

HANS-JOACHIM ROEDELIUS

Piano Piano. CD, vinyl (180g), download.

"Piano Piano" is a very soft, quiet album – meandering fantasies and improvisations on the grand piano. Dreamlike and stylistically self-assured. Roedelius assumes the role of a fairytale character with his piano music, transported to a strange, fantastical landscape where, filled with awe and amazement, he tries to get his bearings. What he sees, feels and senses here is not always of this world. CD and download include three bonus tracks!

YOU

Electric Day. CD, vinyl (180g), download

Spherical, hypnotic sequencers, synthesizers, drums and guitar – that is the sound of the so called Berlin School of electronic music: Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze et al. A hitherto less celebrated, yet outstanding exponent of the Berlin School was the Krefeld combo YOU. Udo Hanten and Albin Meskes teamed up with another iconic figure of electronic music, Harald Grosskopf (drummer for Ashra, Klaus Schulze), to issue their fantastic debut album 1979. Definitely worth to be rediscovered! CD and download include four bonus tracks!

YOU

Time Code. CD, vinyl (180g), download.

Four years after releasing their debut (see above) YOU delivered the sophomore LP, entitled "Time Code". Reduced to a duo, YOU largely remained faithful to their style, but expanded upon it. Down tempo and faster numbers alternate and sugar sweet melodies are followed by expanses of ominously dark or crystal clear synthesizers. The album perfectly illustrates the transition of electronic music from the 1970s to the 1980s. Sequencer patterns owe much to the legacy of the Berlin School, whilst the synthesizer and drum computer sounds heralded the advent of the new decade. CD and download include two bonus tracks!

KREIDLER

TANK. CD, vinyl (180g), download.

The unique postrock/neo-krautrock quartet KREIDLER from Düsseldorf and Berlin have recorded a new album. "TANK" sees Kreidler go back to their roots: pattern-oriented rock music, analogue/electronic and repetitious, yet elegant and distinguished – Kreidler have refined their unique style still further, and are getting better with every album. "TANK" was recorded in the Electric Avenue Studio, with producer Tobias Levin creating a stunning sound that gets as close to Kreidler's live energy as it can.

QLUSTER

Fragen. CD, vinyl (180g) plus download code, download

Kluster – Cluster – and now Qluster. "Fragen" documents the extraordinary shedding of skin of one of the most important German electronic groups. Hans-Joachim Roedelius was there from the beginning, first as a trio with Conrad Schnitzler and Dieter Moebius (Kluster), from 1971 on as a duo with Dieter Moebius (Cluster), and since 2010 as a duo with with Onnen Bock (Qluster). Bock (born 1973) and Roedelius have been meeting up to explore new musical directions together since 2007. "Fragen" is the first part of an exceptional trilogy, a grandiose new beginning, backed up by forty years of tradition.

HANS-JOACHIM ROEDELIUS

Momenti Felici. CD, vinyl (180g), download.

Since the early eighties, Roedelius had more or less dispensed with electronics, focussing increasingly on the grand piano. He also collaborated with various combinations of musicians to create a new kind of music, vastly different to Cluster and Harmonia aesthetics. "Momenti Felici" (first released in 1987 on Venture) is one of the finest examples hereof: an enthusiastic Roedelius allowed new impressions and discoveries to flow virtually unfiltered into his music. Includes three previously unreleased tracks!
